Shipping & Delivery
We ship via UPS and United Express (United Express is for local delivery in Northeast Illinois, including the Chicago metroplitan area). Prices quoted for shipping are based on our best estimate of the weight of the package to be shipped. There is a nominal charge for packaging included with each shipment. If there is a significant difference between the price we quoted and the actual cost of shipment, we will contact you for your approval.
Delivery of products that Do Not include alcohol
We attempt to ship all orders within two business days. If shipment is delayed due to out-of-stock conditions, we will contact you at the email address you provided at the time of your order.

Delivery of Wine
We are able to ship wine and orders that contain wine. Purchaser and recipient must be over the age of 21 to purchase alcohol. All wine products are sold in Illinois and title passes to the purchaser in Illinois. By placing the order, you represent that the purchaser and the recipient are both over the age of 21 and you authorize us to have the product shipped on your behalf by common carrier for delivery to your selected destination. Under the terms of sale, the common carrier is acting as your agent.
Delivery can only be made to an address where an individual at least 21 years old is available to sign for the shipment during regular business hours. We cannot ship to a P.O. Box. We recommend shipping to a business address, as we are not responsible for damage that occurs to the wine while sitting overnight or over the weekend in a warehouse because the recipient was not available to accept the package when the delivery was attempted.
We ship orders containing wine Monday through Wednesday, depending on the destination, to reduce the likelihood of travel over the weekend.
We do not ship wine when the temperatures are extremely hot (over 90) or extremely cold (under 20), unless you specifically direct us to do so. We may require that you purchase packaging that offers better protection against extreme temperatures, but we are not responsible for damage to the wine that occurs due to extreme temperatures if we are acting on your directions. If your wine shipment is held due to adverse weather, you may cancel your order within 7 days for a full refund. Held orders cancelled after 7 days will be charged a 10% restocking fee.
Please make every effort to accept your wine on the first delivery attempt. Additional time spent in delivery can result in damage to your wine that is not covered by any insurance or guarantee. Returns due to missed deliveries of shipments containing wine will be held at our store for 30 days and then destroyed unless we receive payment from you to re-ship. There will be additional charges for re-shipment.

Warning: Certain states expressly prohibit the direct importation of alcohol and violation can be punishable as a misdemeanor or felony. We will not to ship to states where direct shipment is prohibited, including Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nevada, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, North Dakota, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington State, West Virginia and other states. If you place an order for delivery to any of these states, we will contact you for a delivery address in a state where shipment of alcohol is not prohibited.
Delivery of Beer
We do NOT ship beer. All beer purchases must be made in person in our store. If you submit an order to have beer shipped, it will be cancelled and will not be honored.
Returns & Replacements
- Products that do not contain alcohol
We gladly accept returns of accessories, tablewares, and gourmet pantry items within 7 days of delivery. The items must be returned unopened in their original packaging in salable condition. Call us at (847) 590-8655 for an RMA#. No returns will be accepted without an RMA#. Refunds in the original form of payment are issued within 7 days of our receipt. Return shipping is the customer's responsibility.
We can accept returns of wine that are clearly flawed within 30 days of original delivery. The wine must have been accepted on the first delivery attempt - we are not responsible for damage to wine due to extended time in transit. Call us at (847) 590-8655 for an RMA# within 48 hours of opening the wine. Determination of a flaw is solely at the discretion of Vintages. No returns will be accepted without an RMA#. Exact replacement of wine and vintage will be made within 7 days. If the wine is no longer available, we will replace with a similar product or issue a refund in the original form of payment at the customer's direction. Return shipping is the customer's responsibility. Replacement wine, if warranted, will be shipped at our expense.
Payment & Pricing
- Prices are subject to change without notice. Orders are not final until accepted by us. We are not responsible for typos or misprints. If the final amount differs from the amount you were presented on the website, we will contact you with the correct price. We will not charge your credit card until your order is packed and ready to ship - usually within two days. If there was a increase in price, we will not charge your credit card until we have received your approval - if we do not receive your approval within 7 days, we will cancel the order.
